American Indian Art

American Indian art generally refers to those items of the people and cultures that inhabited North America prior to the arrival of Western European explorers.  Generally you will find geographical attributions such as Woodlands (Eastern), Plains (Central), the pre-Puebloan (Anasazi, Mogollon, and Casa Grande), Pueblo, and Athabascan peoples (Southwest), and  Eskimos (Northwest Coast and Artic).  Blankets and rugs, pottery, baskets, jewelry, carved wooden and stone objects are but a few of the many categories of objects that are wonderful decorative accessories and masterpieces collected today by the world’s leading institutions and collectors.
